SCIENCE AS A COMMON LANGUAGE

Knowledge travels.
So should opportunity.

Central Asia’s scientific future is stronger when its women are seen, heard and connected.

WISCA is a nonprofit initiative bringing visibility to women scientists across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Through an accessible directory and a shared regional identity, we aim to support scientific dialogue, encourage cross-border connections and make women’s expertise easier to discover.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

A regional vision.
A personal beginning.

I’m Arina Myassoyed, a neuroscience enthusiast and the founder of WISCA — Women in Science Central Asia. I created this independent non-profit initiative with a simple purpose: to bring the region’s women scientists into focus.

Supporting women in science feels natural to me. Behind every research question is a person whose curiosity, patience and work deserve to be seen. I want more women to find recognition for what they contribute — and more young women to see a place for themselves in science.

Across Central Asia, there is so much we can learn from one another. My hope is that WISCA makes a first introduction easier: discovering someone’s work, starting a conversation, or finding a shared question across borders. That is where this initiative begins.
